The LA Colors Seashell & French Tips Incident!

Right, so this mani wasn't supposed to turn out like this whatsoever! I had something completely different in mind. As the polish is called Seashell, I was going to stamp little light brown shells to keep with the beach theme. A sparkly beach! And then it all went downhill from there!

The polish applied relatively well but it was sheer so I added 1 coat of Barry M Lemon Ice Cream base colour before 2 coats of seashell. Then it all turned into a mess!

The drying time was so horrible that I found it hard to actually believe that any polish would take this long to dry, even with 2 coats of SV! The second coat of SV even made the polish lift from the nail a bit. I waited about 30 mins before using scotch tape for the tips and this created massive bubbles of air underneath! I was still trying desperately to salvage this mani, even without my little seashells.
The only thing I could think of was  nail stickers to cover up some of the mistakes. But guess what? As I added a top coat over the stickers, they started curling up at the edges (which has never happened to me before with these stickers)! That's it, I was so annoyed I gave up and this mani came straight off. And not so long ago I was raving about LA Colors, maybe I just got a bad bottle :( *sigh*

  6. @ Jacquelyn - Maybe this was just a bad bottle as I have tried another LA Colors (Pink Paradise) a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome to work with.

@ Fingers - Nope, still the same background. I've had this one for quite a while :-) It doesn't show properly on my work computer though...strange!

@ Cheap, Pretty nails, Amber and Polish AMOR - thanks ladies. I can't believe how much of a nightmare this mani was. I nearly didn't post it but thought I had to just for the trouble I went through..Lol!

  7. I think it is really pretty, it's too bad you had so much trouble with it! It is such a cute design and the flowers give it such cuteness! :)

I haven't tried seashell, but I have a bunch of LA Colors ('cause I'm fairly new and so buy cheap), and they usually work well for me. Of course, like I said, I'm new at this, and haven't actually had much experience with other polishes.

  11. You have the cutest nail art & ideas ever! - Colors too.. too lucky you have those awesome nail polishes in your country!

Just a question. How do you do the french tip? Whenever I use the tape it ruins the base color. :/

  12. @ Alya - I think you e-mailed me about this but in case it wasn't you, I just use scotch tape bought at s stationary store for my french tips. I got realy good tips from Erika about french tips - So it doesn't ruin your base colour, first you need to make sure it's actually about 80% dry and then stick the tape on the back of your hand before applying to polished nails. This way, the tape will lose some of it's stickiness and won't pull off your polish:-)
