Layering: Revlon Facets of Fuchsia & CND Violet Shimmer Effects

This polish has been causing a bit of a hype lately, not least because it's the high street drugstore's take on Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance for a fraction of the cost.

I'm sure you all know the ins and outs of this polish - black jelly base with Fuchsia glitter and hex shaped glitter, etc... so I'll skip that part!

I applied 2 coats of Facets of Fuchsia over 1 coat of Barry M Black. I just wanted to make it as opaque as possible without having to use too many coats of FoF! I wanted to try it over a fuchsia base colour as well but didn't have the time so instead I layered CND Effect Violet Shimmer over it:

What do you think of the CND Violet Shimmer effect? I think it adds another dimension to FoF and makes it more edgy. Pin It

Layering NOTD: China Glaze Blue Iguana over Misa Pour Me Something Tall And Strong & matte french tips

This was was originally meant to be a swatch of Misa's Pour Me Something Tall and Strong from the Misa Neons: Look On The Bright Side Collection. However, I ended up having to layer it because this polish disappointed me so much.

I'm not quite sure what I was expecting because I purchased this polish on impulse without looking at swatches or reviews (serves me right!), but complete sheerness, having to do at least 4 coats for opacity, a neon that doesn't dry as fast as it's neon cousins, etc... wasn't what I had in mind!!!
On the plus side, this blue looked perfect in the bottle, I still adore the colour itself (like a regal blue only much more fun and brighter) and I can successfully use it to experiment with layering. I just can't get over the sheerness and all that VNL even after 4 coats!

Cue China Glaze Blue Iguana! With another 2 coats of this wonderful medium blue shimmery foil with almost undetectable purple duochrome, also perfect for layering because of its semi-sheer jelly like base, the mani was rescued! After a thick coat of SV to dry up all these layers, here is the end result:

I then added some matte french tips using Orly Blue Suede. I thought the matte would complement the shiny nicely. What do you think?

Layering Of The Day - Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black over Risque Turmalina

The first polish I tried from my August haul was Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black. I was really curious to see what it would look like on me, and layered over something other than black.

I bought this polish (and a few others) from Beautyjoint and it only cost $1.75! Although the shipping did brake the bank a little! I wish we could get stuff like this here in the UK so as to avoid all the ridiculous shipping charges.

I'm afraid the pictures don't do this polish justice. They were taken at night and this chunky holo glitter is at it's best in direct sunlight but here it is, 2 coats Chunky Holo Black layered over 2 coats of Risque Turmalina.

Oh!You've probably noticed that I've changed my page as well. I just wanted my pics to look a little bigger and I was tired of the old background and wanted to go for something much simpler!
I've also recently got photoshop back so I've been playing around with my watermarks and picture sizes. So bear with me as I try to get all pictures/ posts to look uniform :)
