Nude on Nude

Today's mani was inspired by one of my IG friends, Nicole. If you have an IG account, check out her amazing manicures, she is super talented and her nails are gorgeous (@nic_tchelly). Nicole also sent me a bunch of amazing goodies from Hawaii which I can't wait to share with you, Color Club Love'Em/ Leave'Em being one of them.

Love'Em/Leave'Em is such an unexpected holo because it's a nude! I don't have any other nude holo in my stash so this is a perfect addition! The holo effect is subtle which adds to how delicate and classy the polish looks. The pictures below are only one coat so I think this polish has very good coverage. It also applied like butter, no aqua base coat needed!

I took the "nude" theme all the way through to the mani as well and decided on a nude half moon mani with copper coloured loose pieces of hex glitter which I stuck along the half moon line.

Hearty Half Moons - Quick & Easy Valentine's Nails

And here you have it. The actual Valentine's day mani. I actually did this one last week but was waiting for 14th February to post it.

If you follow my blog you have probably seen this before, I did the same half moon variation back in October 2011 with Illamasqua Purity, just after Theatre of The Nameless was released and all because the shape of the half moon reminded me of theatre curtains! Weird I know! Well this shape also reminds me of a heart so I've had this mani in mind for quite some time and was waiting for Valentine's to do it.

I used Barry M Black over Jessica Samba Parade (my only Jessica polish) as a base colour. I've had this polish for so long that the formula has gone a bit goopy and it was hard to manage, however it's a good quality polish and they have very interesting colours. The only downside is the price, they retail at about £9.45.

Easter Monday Bank Holiday Half Moons

Hope you guys had a great Easter. This is my first post ever (yay!). Not quite sure where to begin.

So, I think I dreamt about half moon nails last night because I spent an hour looking at pictures of Dita Von Teese. I love the look - so vintage, so 1950's. Although they were brought back a while ago (for fall 2009 runways I think), for some reason I'm obsessing about them now!!
I wanted to recreate it on myself but using different contrasting or complementary colours other than the traditional white/red I've always seen. I loved what CND did at the Christian Dior and Ruffian runways.

I don't have much of a steady hand so I cheated and used the little round stickers method. They didn't come out bad for a first attempt and although the stickers left some residue behind, it didn't damage the polish.

I used OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender for the half moon and Rimmel London Perfect Plum on the rest of the nail.

What do you guys think of the half moon manicure in general? Pin It
