Ahoy Captain !!!!! - Nautical themed nails

This summer, Nautical is in again. It has been around for seasons and is sailing right into 2011..lol !!! Well, at least for me it is... I love myself a nice blue stripped or anchor t-shirt, little sailing boat pics and the red, white and blue colour combo :-)

I probably wouldn't wear heavy nautical nails with a totally nautical outfit (a bit ott or what??) but I would definitely keep it within the colour scheme.

Sorry, my hands were a bit shaky drawing the white stripes. Too much coffee, not enough sleep.

I love this matte Orly Blue Suede. My favourite out of the Orly Matte Couture Collection.

It reminds me of a blue dusty eggshell surface and although its a matte, I could swear I saw a hint of sheen to it !!! Its opaque enough for 1 coat which is what I applied but a 2nd coat would do no harm, since you can't use a topcoat. It also dries twice as fast as regular polish which is always a bonus :-)

Star Nails - Funky French Tips

Hi everyone. Today I wanted to show you a mani that I actually did a couple of days ago but didn't have time to post. I was just playing around with colour combos when I came across a post by Emerald Sparkled
in which she used yellow and purple. I thought the colours looked funky together :-)

I used a pastel yellow (Barry M Lemon Ice cream) as opposed to a more vivid bright (sorry, camera was playing up):

Then I stamped with BM21 and the stamping polish I used was OPI Lincoln Park After Dark. The purple didn't come out as accentuated as I wanted it to...oh well !!!

I didn't want to leave it at the BM stamp so I decided to add some sort of funky French Tips (if you can call them that)...they are Lincoln Park After Dark polish with yellow glitter on top. Hmmm... not quite sure what to make of "V" shaped tips !!!

Blue Iguana - China Glaze

Hello my dear readers

The weekend is over which means back to work for me and less time to post and experiment with new designs :-(

I still had time for this quick mani before work, with a new polish I got from China Glaze's Island Escape Summer 2011 Collection - Blue Iguana.

What you can't see in these pictures of shimmering glass flecked blue is just the tiniest amount of purple duochrome. Its visible in the bottle but not so much on the nails. I had to apply 3 coats to get the desired opaque effect.

After I got home from work I was itching to do something else with it but other than taking it off and doing a whole new mani, the only thing I could think of is to try out some bundle monster over it.

I used BM11 and BM06 and also decided to see how some pink heavy glitter would look over it (I used Saffron London colour 09). Not brilliant was the conclusion I came to... it looked better in my head !!!
