Untrieds: OPI DS Magic

Today I have a very special polish to show you. Well, it's special to me because I love anything blue and it's my first ever OPI Designer Series. I received it in a recent swap with one of my IG girlies (Marcie) and couldn't wait to try it. I am also trying to decrease the amount of untrieds I have because it's gotten to the point where it's actually becoming a little silly - my untrieds box has more polish than my regular tried stash! >.< I'm not complaining though! It feels like Christmas every time I open that box :)

OPI DS Magic is a blue and purple duochrome which is very evident on the bottle but sadly doesn't translate onto the nail. It doesn't take away from the fact that it's still a beautiful rich blue packed with glass flecks. I also love the formula on these types of polishes, it's wonderfully easy to work with. The first coat goes on streaky and sheer but a second coat provides full coverage.

Look how pretty the bottle shot is! I want exactly that on my nails!

  1. I agree it is very beautiful - but OH my, if the purple would be visible on the nail too, it would be stunning!

  2. I don't know if there are several versions or this or whatever, but the purple flash in mine does translate onto the nail. It's not very visible in flat/dull lighting, but it's there though :)

  3. it's a beautiful polish!
There are quite a lot of polishes that have this kind of blue-purple duochrome effect in the bottle but not on the nails...

  6. Congrats on getting your first DS! This is a really great blue, I agree. Out of the 2 last released DS's this is the one I liked. Temptation was a pretty shade but is a glitter with all the downsides of that - the grit, the crunch. The color in Magic is really a keeper in my blue stash most certainly. The other one -Temptation does show the blue and purple in it - but as said, it's a glitter. I have used a CND effects to pull out the purple that is hidden in Magic. Also if you have last summer's Revlon Fizz (they were a sheer glass fleck in the scented line) in the shade Pina Colada - that over Magic helps pop out the purple too. I have use a magenta metalic strip rite to tip my nails with after using Magic and that also helps a little to pull out some purple in it - it might just be a trick on my eyes - not sure.
