China Glaze Prism - Prismatic Chroma Glitters Collection Spring 2012

I was going through my untrieds stash yesterday afternoon and realised that I hadn't yet showed you Prism from the China Glaze Prismatic Chroma Glitters Collection! I have now been wearing it for just over 24 hours and can safely say... I'm disappointed!

Although this collection was nothing like I thought it would be, Polarized was starting to grow on me. It's not a holo but it's a very pretty dense silver glitter. Then it all went downhill with Prism.

Prism is supposed to be the purple glitter of the bunch but have a look at the pics and tell me how much purple you see in it? I only see the slightest bit towards the sides of the nails where it reflects! The first thing I thought when I put it on was how similar the same it is to Polarized. Why did I need both?!

Here is a pic of Prism and Polarized side by side. See what I mean?? Arrgg! I'm annoyed now!

Then, just a couple of hours ago, this happens! Yep, that is a large chunk of polish that just lifted right off my nail! I wasn't expecting this dense glitter to come off that easily so I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing! I have a feeling that this happened because I applied base coat. This kind of polish would probably stick much better to the nail without a base coat.

  2. Ughhh how awful!
it's a shame because the glitter is very pretty!
That's a poison for people who have the vice to rip polish off the nails...

    1. Yep! It annoyed me so much that even I started picking at it and I've never picked at my nails!

  3. My eyes aren't the greatest I'll admit, but I really can't tell any large difference between the two at all. Disappointing!
Maybe I should recommend it to friends who like to p-e-e-l. Though I don't want to encourage them! :P

    1. I'm not sure if it was my lamp or my camera settings but even in real life and up close, there was only the slightest tinge of purple to it :( I wanted it to be more prominent!

    1. I'm thinking it was probably because of the base coat, although I used CND Sticky which is meant to be a gripping base coat!

    1. I don't blame you! They are OK glitter polishes but I was a bit disappointed with the collection overall! :(

  6. I didn't realise how similar they were until now...it's a pity, because, even if they're not holos, they're still pretty interesting polishes.
Oh, and the peeling thing happens to me too sometimes when I apply a glitter polish, it could really be fault of the base coat...

    1. That's a good idea! I might actually try Prism over a purple polish to see if it brings out the purple undertones a bit more!

  12. I love the look of Prism! I haven't seen this collection in person yet--bet I'll scoop up a bunch when I do. I've heard of people having glitters pop off like that but never experienced it myself.

    1. It's the first time for me! I actually thought that because the glitter was so dense, it would be a PITA to take off! It was on some nails, others just fell off!

  13. They do look really identical. I hate it when companies basically dupe themselves!

    1. When the bottles are standing next to each other on my shelf, you can see the difference! Maybe it was just my lamp that didn't pick it up :(

  14. Love how the polish looks, but I usually have those issues with glitter nail varnish. Plus, if they don't just "peel" off on their own, they are absolute HELL to remove. It's a lose/lose. Still pretty, though. :)

    1. Yep! It's a lose/lose! Especially when I'm outside and a chunk falls off and then I have to walk around all day like that...so annoying!

  15. So weird I was using a China Glaze top coat and my nail polish was popping off like that as well...I rarely use China Glaze polish so I'm not sure if it's just their polish or what.

    1. Hi Shelley! I use China Glaze quite a lot and their formulas are usualy amazing! I've never had a problem with any other CG polishes apart from these Prismatic ones :(

    1. I don't own it but have tried Lorelei's Tiara in the past and your're right! I had to use the foil method to remove it! However, glitters are different, some are very hard to remove, others will fall off in chunks as this one did :)
