China Glaze Polarized - Prismatic Chroma Glitters Collection Spring 2012

When I got home from work today, I had a little package waiting for me and inside was China Glaze Polarized (and Prism which I will show you later) from the Prismatic Chroma Glitters Collection for Spring 2012. I was so excited, I had to swatch it straight away!

Polarized is the silver of the collection. It's a  micro silver glitter base with large green, red, pink, blue, yellow, orange and silver glitter.

Before I say anything else, here is what 2 coats of Polarized look like (plus 2 coats of top coat - it's very thirsty glitter):

OK, I have to stress that I am happy with this as a glitter polish (it is a very good dense glitter polish, completely opaque in 2 coats and super blingy) but I wouldn't call it a holo polish which is what I thought it would be when I first saw the promo shot for this collection back in November.

I was sceptical about the amazing'ness' of the holo in these, I was doubting if they would look that good on the nail and I guess it turned out they don't. Having said that, although my nails don't look as good as the girls' in the promo shot, I still love the mix between the larger multi coloured glitter and the finer micro glitter. As I said, it's still a very nice glitter polish and although the glitter is quite dense, I think it would look good in glitter sandwiches.

I know there are some mixed reviews on this collection. What are your thoughts?

  1. I like it! It has just the right amount of other colored glitter pieces to make it look fun and sporty.

    1. Yes, it makes it pop a bit more. At least it's not just silver glitter!

  2. Amazingggg!
Carnaval here in Brazil is coming soon, have you heard of it?
That kind of shiny color with glitter is awesome for it!

    1. Yes, I have Bia!! It's a pretty big deal over there isn't it? But there is so much bling in Rio that I'm sure it would overshadow even this polish!

  3. Wow, I love this. I hate when glitter polishes need 10 coats in order to look how your nails look in that photo. This seems like the perfect glitter.

    1. A good glitter it is indeed - but not holo :(
If you apply a thick coat, you can even get away with just 1!

    1. I second that. I'm still waiting for GC to come out with a collection as good as OMG in the holo department. I was truely hoping this one would be a mix of OMG and glitter!

  10. This is a super pretty glitter! But not going to lie, I'm kind of disappointed. I was hoping we'd have a true holo base with glitter. This almost looks like a color from the Eye Candy collection. I still like it though!

  11. I think this one is very pretty! I love glitter, so will probably buy a lot of these, but I'm still waiting for a new OMG-like collection. ChG teases us; there was Tronica, then the early promos for this, but no great holos. It's possible to make them these days; other companies are showing that. Maybe their volumes are too big to get that much holo powder or something.

    1. I don't know what it is with them. If other companies can successfully make amazing holos, I don't see why CG can't do it again! Maybe your theory is correct, I'm sure there are other theories out there?!

  13. WOW, I really love the Prismatics! They are definitly no ordinary glitters. On the nail they look like scales of a fish...it's shifting color constantly when you move your hands. They are no holo's but duochromes with glitter in them: sooooo pretty!
