Croc effect polish??

Ok, so I know I'm a little behind here but to be completely honest, I hadn't seen or heard of this until today!!! - Croc effect polish! As in, instead of shatter effect, you get croc effect?!

I know a lot of people love shatter/ crackle polishes but they started irritating me pretty much as soon as they came out. I use them very rarely and for nail art only. Therefore I don't know if I'll be getting this Croc effect. Having said that, I'm also easily persuaded when it comes to polish :)

Apparently it cracks much smaller and thinner than it's crackle/ shatter cousins and seems to be less bumpy. Then again, I don't know if the effect will look as good as it does in the promo pic. If any of you try it, let me know, I would love to see how you get on.

  1. I like Croc! I got some the other day, and as a crackle hater normally, I found the croc much nicer - it's more even and regular and much less messy. There are a couple of recent posts on my blog if you want to see what it looks like. It's not that much like Barry M's photo, but it's not hugely different.

    1. I have never seen it either, looks interesting! I'm a bit over crackle too. This looks a little giraffe-y to me :) Would be fun in brown and cream!

    2. Elanor. I've seen your swatches. Your "crackling" is perfect! Is it harder or easier to achieve than regular crackle polish?

Anne - Yes, it kinda does look like a giraffe! I'm sure they will probably bring out other colours!

    3. Thank you! No, I don't think it was particularly hard to achieve, certainly no more so than normal crackle.

  2. I like this crackle effect. I bet it's gonna look similar to Kelier crackle:

    1. I think it might so too! To be honest, I think they just re-branded it as croc effect but it's just an alternative breed of crackle, i.e. like the Kelier one!

  4. Looks good on that photo, but we'd never know til we tried it!
To be honest, I'm not a fan of cackle either... actually I've never used one and don't intend on using for now!

    1. To be honest, I only gave into it when it was first released because it was something "new". I always thought it make my manis look unkept and like I'd badly applied polish or something! Some crackles, if not applied well can look really bad :(

  5. I don't know too much about this new croco-polish, but one of the other blogs I follow, Chalkboard Nails, did a post on hers: http://www.chalkboardnails.com/2012/01/lcn-croco-fever-topcoats.html

    1. Oh, I missed Chalkboard's entry on that! But I've had a look now, and you are right, LCN have exactly the same thing and in different colours already! We don't get LCN here so it's no surprise that drugstore brands would follow the trend!

  6. Weird, I've never seen that! It looks like (from Chalkboard's entry) that it seems to crack up into more rounded pieces instead of odd splinters? I'm sort of over the shatters but I'm intrigued by this... Good lookin' out!

  8. Am I doing mine wrong? I apply the croc and it takes ten minutes to dry and even then it is barely noticeable. I have to get really close to notice the effects. I know you don't apply it like the crackle ones but do you literally have to apply when your first coat is wet. I swear I am following the instructions properly. xxx

    1. Hi Catalina - I haven't tried it yet but I assume you probably have to apply a very thin layer of it and apply it while the base polish is still wet? Most crackles like this work that way. Try different techniques and let me know how you get on :)
