NOTD: Quick & Simple Monday Mani - Shattered Tips

Hi guys.
Hope you are all having a good start to your week.
Today I just quickly put together what I call a "Monday mani". I can't bring myself to do much on a Monday (although it's actually a bank holiday today) and my shatter polish had been sitting on the shelf forever!!
I'm actually not a massive fan of shatter polish (in any colour) so I can only tolerate it in small amounts like in this mani.

I applied a sort of nude base colour by Missguided, although IRL it can look more like an old rose pink:

The Barry M shatter polish applied matte onto the glossy polish. I like matte more than I care to admit but in this case it just didn't look right so I added a glossy top coat.

Here is what I used:
*Missguided Splash & Polish Range - Misscellaneous
*Barry M Nail Paint Instant Effect - Black
* Orly - Glitz & Glamour

*Base colour: 2True Shade no7 Rose Pink
*Vital Make-Up: Shade no19
*Male Up Academy: Shade no13

Moroccan Inspired Patchwork Nails

I was on Chloe's Nails this morning and her patchwork nails are to die for. Its amazing what scotch tape can do :-)

Here is my first attempt at patchwork. I decided to use Moroccan inspired colours, Moroccan themes are so vibrant and colourful and I never get tired of their colour combos!!

I started off with Orly Glitz & Glamour. This polish is from 'Tis The Season Holiday 2010 Collection, a deep gold shimmer (which isn't hard to remove but leaves tiny particles all over your fingers). It is heavily pigmented so I only needed 2 coats.

I also changed up the patchwork pattern on the ring finger so I could add some bling :-)

Citrus Punch Mani - Fruity Nails

Hi guys,

The weather was so dreadful here yesterday that this morning when I woke up, I decided I wanted something even brighter than bright, more summery than summer. I typed the words "summer nails" into google and I got lots of flowers, neons, fimo and watermelons. I've already done watermelon nails a couple of weeks back (which I will show you later) so I wanted a different fruit and that's when I came across some videos on Youtube.

Hope you are all feeling fruity today !!!

Here are my lemony-lime nails:

Products used:
* Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream
* Vital Make-up - No19
* Nail Star Nail Art Brush - White

Multi-colour Leopard Print

Good morning girls

Today I wanted to show you a mani I did last week - multi-coloured leopard print.

I know leopard print has been used left, right and centre in all forms and colours but I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. It goes out of fashion but it always finds its way back in :-)

I used OPI Alpine Snow for the base colour and various nail art pens for the leopard pattern.

NOTD: Stripe it Green

Good afternoon everyone :-)

So, yesterday I showed you the most amazing green from Nubar's Going Green collection - Earth. I've had this on my nails for a couple of days but I love this green so much that I didn't want to take it off !!

Instead, I added some green stripes to it. Nubar has a lot of shimmer micro-glitter in it so I stuck to the shimmer theme and used 2 other shimmery greens - Miss Sporty Green Lemon and the other green (middle colour) is by Vital Make-up. The bottle says number 19 but it has no name !

You can probably see a slight dent in my ring finger... my cat jumped on the table and my arm jogged whilst I was trying to pull off the scotch tape...!!!

I love all these greens together:

Products used:
* Nubar - Earth
* Vital Make-up - No19
* Miss Sporty - Green Lemon from Clubbing Colours range
* CND Base Stickey & Top Speedey Coat

Hope you guys like the green combo as much as I do :-)

Nubar Earth - Amazing green from the Going Green Collection

Today I wanted to show you an amazing green I recently purchased from the Nubar Going Green collection. The whole collection is a dream to look at. I can't stop staring at my nails. Hhmmm, its so eco-themed !!

I'm sure that if you are a green lover you already own all or part of this collection.

Earth is a blue-green shimmer. In certain light, this one can actually look more blue than green but it has tons of pigmentation - light green micro-simmer all over .

IMO, the formula on this polish is pretty much perfect, I can't flaw it at all. Its totally opaque in 2 coats and has a fast drying time. Its a dream to work with polishes like this. I can't wait to get more greens from this collection.

 *Picture overload coming up !!*

Shiny vs. Matte Striped Nails

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is having a chillaxed Sunday...Umm, I love lazy Sundays :-)

Today I wanted to show you a sort of stripe mani which was inspired by Jane at nailside. Her mummy nails look really pretty and this was my first time doing one so it was also a bit of an experiment :-)

I started off with a dark purple and a pale lilac on the ring finger:

I used OPI - You don't know Jaques over the scotch tape to create the stripes. In retrospect , probably not the best choice of contrasting colour. My stripe widths are also not very uniform, next time I'll do better :-)
Also, on the pinky finger, I tried to mix You Don't Know Jacques with Lucky Lucky Lavender and look what happened...lol !!

I have also recently bought a matte top coat and thought I'd try it on this mani:

I had to apply 2 coats of regular top coat before the matte because it smudges like there's no tomorrow !! It still smudged a little and left some streaks.

Products used:
* Miss Sporty - sorry, bottle has no colour name
* OPI - Lucky Lucky Lavender
* OPI - You Don't Know Jacques!
* Claire's - Matt Top Coat
I like stripey manis a lot and will be giving these another go - with different colours obviously =D

Vintage Floral Nails

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all having a wonderful Saturday.

Quite a few friends complimented me on my Chinese Cherry Blossoms nails that I decided to do something similar - summery and flowery. Cutepolish has just recently posted a video on YouTube for this design and I thought I'd give it a go.

I have to admit that I do prefer the look when the red and pink of the roses are blended together as opposed to this one where the red is outlining the pink. I'll try that next time :-)

What do you think of this look? For some reason I like the way it looks on other people's nails but not a massive fan when its on my nails. My mum said these look like a dress my grandmother had when she was younger...lol... that's the point mumsie !!

Here are the products I used:
* CND - Stickey base coat
* Essie - Mint Candy Apple
* Jessica - Samba Parade
* Sally Hansen - Racey Rouge
* MUA - shade 13 (sorry, no colour name)
* Konad - Top Coat

Tips please ?!?! - More Funky French Tips

Hi again :-)

I just wanted to share a quick French Tip mani I did last night before bed. Tips in whatever colour (and shape lol) are my "go to mani" when I don't have the time or patience for anything else. I generally love french tips a lot and its almost a compulsion to tip nearly all of my manis. Hmmm, maybe its a phase !!!

I had wanted to play with this colour combo for a while, for some reason I really like blue and brown together, strange uhhh?
The blue glitter polish was meant to be another tip on top of the brown tip (so 2 french tips if you know what I mean) but when I applied it to my thumb it got a bit messy so I decided to just apply it over the whole brown tip :-)

Can you see the tip on my ring finger isn't crisp? Lol. It got a bit messy with the scotch tape :-(

I have only been wearing this for about 24 hrs but I can tell that its one of those that would last on my fingers for a good week or more. The glitter in the tip obviously helps prolongation. I tried to take off the polish on my thumb and although the blue polish came off easily, the tip took me like 15 mins..lol !!!

Products used:
* Barry M - Blueberry Ice Cream
* L'oreal Ceramide Resist - (sorry, I've had this polish for so long that the label with the colour has completely rubbed off, but its number 304)
* Nail Art Pen & Brush - Light blue glitter

Bye for now :-)

Ahoy Captain !!!!! - Nautical themed nails

This summer, Nautical is in again. It has been around for seasons and is sailing right into 2011..lol !!! Well, at least for me it is... I love myself a nice blue stripped or anchor t-shirt, little sailing boat pics and the red, white and blue colour combo :-)

Check out this cute outfit:
Picture taken from Polyvore

I probably wouldn't wear heavy nautical nails with a totally nautical outfit (a bit ott or what??) but I would definitely keep it within the colour scheme.

Sorry, my hands were a bit shaky drawing the white stripes. Too much coffee, not enough sleep.

I love this matte Orly Blue Suede. My favourite out of the Orly Matte Couture Collection.
It reminds me of a blue dusty eggshell surface and although its a matte, I could swear I saw a hint of sheen to it !!! Its opaque enough for 1 coat which is what I applied but a 2nd coat would do no harm, since you can't use a topcoat. It also dries twice as fast as regular polish which is always a bonus :-)

Products used:
* Orly - Blue Suede
* OPI - Alpine Snow
* Red & White Nail Art Pen & Brush
* Rhinestones
